Academy of Achievement Award

Johnny Mathis was presented with the Academy of Achievement’s Golden Plate Award at a ceremony at its headquarters in Washington, DC on Saturday night, December 10. The medal was presented by General Colin Powell, a member of the Academy’s Awards Council. The roster of past Academy honorees include Aretha Franklin, Leontyne Price, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Barbra Streisand, Bono and Tony Bennett.  Johnny also performed some of his hits at the ceremony.
